Welcome to i-Descend.com

I’m so happy that this day is finally here. I’ve been spending all day, every day for the last month building this site and trying to make my vision come to life. The idea for i-Descend came to me while I was taking a class fall semester of 2012. Over the course of the semester the students in my business communications class each compiled a portfolio of their “Dream Job.” Since my purpose for going to college was to get a degree in family history, my dream job was of course genealogy. I love doing my own family history research, and I really love helping other people get excited about theirs too.

Over the past several years, I’ve realized that there wasn’t a great place for people who knew little or nothing about genealogy to get help. It can be very intimidating when you don’t understand genealogy lingo. Growing up I would hear my grandma use the acronym “IGI” all the time, and I never knew what it meant, and to be honest I recently looked it up because it’s not used that much anymore.

My hope is that i-Descend will be a place where anyone can come to have questions answered, find resources, and gain understanding for the process of genealogy. Wish me luck!

I am not suprised that you have done such an amazing thing. It actually makes me think how proud your Grandmother would be and is as she is continuing her work on the other side. I’m looking forward to looking around the site and sharing it with people who have an interest in family history
By the way I’M proud of you too. All the Best and congratulations.
